Popcorn, spaghetti, strudel? Brno’s Noise Kitchen collective will guide you in your first steps to cooking up unique (un)musical sounds. At first, we will touch on the history and types of modules and their musical and experimental possibilities. We will then move on to discussing the basic properties of sound, the possibilities of its modulation, and we will also look at how percussions and melodies are made. The workshop has an individual focus and each participant will use their own modular system.
PINK NOISE is an independent musicians’ collective from the circles of Brno’s Bastl Instruments and the Synth Library Prague. The members of Pink Noise share a focus on experimental electronic music, (self-)education and the support of women in the music industry.
Nikol Štrobachová
Born in Prague, currently living in Brno. In 2015, she joined the Bastl Instruments collective and started producing educational videos on modular synthesis, titled ‘Patching with Nikol’. Two years later, she began tutoring a group of girls and women at the Noise Kitchen in Brno and founded the Pink Noise collective. Earlier this year, she joined Synth Library Prague and, thanks to the support of Alissa DeRubeis, Mary C and Bastl, began organising modular synthesizer workshops for beginners all around the world.
Workshop suitable for beginners. Bring your own headphones.
