Since 2004, Laurent Gérard has been drawing the sonic equivalent of concentric spirals and labyrinths of thickets, scrub and endless corridors. Constantly renewing his instrumentarium over the years, he builds unlikely bridges between musique concrète and French chanson debris, between cryptic electronic tribal incantations and Russian doll dancing in Plutonia. The language is sometimes French, at other times it is reduced to an alien babble of an old man, a child, a dusty revenant, an epileptic bard, a peaceful messenger. The motifs and contours of his sound develop constantly like a living organism – they are a whirl of prayers, a rocket, a parade one observes on a grand avenue.
